Overview and Responsibilities
The Finance Department develops and implements the financial policies of the city and is responsible for the accounting records of all city funds. Financial services are provided to all city departments through:
· Accounts payable and receivable
· Payroll
· Fixed assets
· Inventory accounting
· Internal audit
· Grant and contract administration
· Treasury management
· Preparation of the Comprehensive Financial Report (CAFR)
The Finance Department compiles financial reports in a format that effectively and efficiently communicates financial data to council, citizens and other interested users.
The Finance Department is part of the development team of the City's Annual Budget and enforces budgetary compliance during the fiscal year. In addition, the Director of Finance directly supervises the Purchasing Department, Municipal Court and the Utility Business Office as part of the financial responsibilities of the city financial services.
