The Holiday Invitational Exhibit in the Saulsbury & McCreary Galleries, “Peace for the holidays”, opens Friday, October 16, 2009 with an artists' reception from 7-9 p.m. Area artists including art professors, and art teachers have been invited to participate in this annual event in which we are continuing to support peace throughout the world.

The other featured exhibits will include The Porcelain Art Guild's Annual Exhibit in the South Foyer.  These artists exhibit their intricately painted porcelain, including framed wall art, serving trays, covered casseroles, and many different styles of serving pieces each year.  Each piece must be glazed and fired many times to achieve the depth and richness of color in the designs.  Many hours have been spent on each piece.

In the Howard Gallery, artists Nancy McGowan & Deborah Martin exhibit “Birds and Botanicals” paintings and drawings. Her watercolors vividly portray the brilliance of tropical birds as well as the subtle softness of more drably colored species.  For many years she provided illustrations for Texas Parks and Wildlife Magazine.
